Upper Blackrock Spire - Quests

Unlike other instances like Scholomance and Stratholme, all of the quests in Upper Blackrock Spire are meant to be completed in a raid of up to 15 people. You'll want the help, as battles like Warchief Rend Blackhand, The Beast, and General Drakkisath take a good deal of manpower to survive. Following is a list of all the quests associated with Upper Blackrock Spire, explanations of each, as well as the quest lines they're a part of.

This quest is part Duke Hydraxis' Molten Core quest line, and requires you kill Pyromancer Emberseer early on in Upper Blackrock Spire.

Category: Upper Blackrock Spire
Retrieve Doomrigger's Clasp from the Rookery in Upper Blackrock Spire. The clasp is in a chest towards the rear left of the Rookery. It's fairly easy to reach the chest without aggroing any whelps after you defeat General Drakkisath at the end of UBRS -- there's a hallway that leads out to a ledge in the Rookery and allows you to jump down next to the chest. Loot the clasp and port out.

Bring Ridgewell's Crate to Count Remington Ridgewell in Stormwind.
The Rookery

Use Tinkee's Eggscilloscope Prototype on an egg in the Rookery in upper Blackrock Spire. You should probably wait until any Rookery events are done before attempting this so (Part of the Scholomance "Dawn's Gambit" chain.)

Starts At: Tinkee Steamboil - Flame Crest (Burning Steppes)

Return to the Rookery, collect 8 more eggs, and bring them and the Collectronic Module to Tinkee Steamboil in the Burning Steppes. (Part of the Scholomance "Dawn's Gambit" chain.)
General Drakkisath

Drakefire Amulet (63+ raid)
Starts At: Haleh - Winterspring
Category: Upper Blackrock Spire
This is the final quest en route to getting the key to Onyxia's lair -- retrieve the Blood of the Black Dragon Champion from General Drakkisath in upper Blackrock Spire, and return to Haleh in Winterspring to complete the Drakefire Amulet. There is a limited amount of blood on Drakk after each kill; the usual etiquette is that all players will the quest will /random for the blood if there isn't enough to go around.
General Drakkisath's Demise (63+ raid)
Starts At: Marshal Maxwell - Morgan's Vigil (BS)
Category: Upper Blackrock Spire
After completing "General Drakkisath's Command" from LBRS, Marshal Maxwell redirects you to defeat General Drakkisath, the final boss of UBRS. As a reward, you can choose from three trinkets, with Blackhand's Breadth and Eye Of The Beast being the two most popular, improving critical strikes by 2%.

Starts At: Blackhand's Command (drops off Quartermaster outside BRS)

This is the "attunement" quest that acts as a prerequisite to entering Blackwing Lair. Near the entrance to Blackrock Spire is a passageway guarded by several high-level elites; at the end of the hall, you'll find the Scarshield Quartermaster, who drops a letter called "Blackhand's Command." This starts a quest to reach the orb behind General Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire. When you complete the quest, you'll be able to port into Blackwing Lair simply by going to the Scarshield Quartermaster's room and touching the orb.

The Matron Protectorate (62+ raid)
Starts At: Awbee - UBRS
Zones: UBRS, Winterspring
Awbee can be found right outside Blackrock Stadium, where you fight General Rend Blackhand, and gives this initial quest for the epic mail and plate items, which sends you to Winterspring.
Finkle Einhorn, At Your Service (62+ raid)
Starts At: Finkle Einhorn - UBRS
Category: UBRS, Winterspring
Finkle Einhorn appears when The Beast is skinned in Upper Blackrock Spire (you'll need a level 310 skinner). Einhorn gives the initial quests for the epic cloth and leather armor quests, which send you to Winterspring and ultimately require the rare skinning drop of the Pristine Hide of the Beast. |
