Netherwing Reputation Guide: Hated to Neutral with Netherwing

I just finished downloading patch 2.1.0 and I am so excited about getting my own Netherwing Drake mount. The only bad part is I don’t know where I should start or how I can gain rep with the Netherwing faction. How do I?

This is probably the biggest and most well known addition to WoW 2.1.0. The good part is some of you may have already started this quest line pre-patch 2.1 but didn’t really know it. I know I did about the first 4 quests needed to get from Hated to Neutral.

Yep, that’s right….you start off at Hated and have to reach Exalted with Netherwing in order to get your 280% speed increase Netherwing Drake mount. It seems to be a pretty long and involved quest line with some quests being daily quests which means you can only complete them once per day (nice, eh?). Anyway, enough talking and let’s get down to it!

Hated to Neutral with the Netherwing Faction

The NPC that starts it all is named Mordenai and he can be found at the Netherwing Fields just east of the Sanctum of the Stars (Scryer base) in Shadowmoon Valley (coords 59,58).

Cheap WoW WOTLK Classic Gold

The first quest you receive from him is called Kindness. All you have to do for this quest is to kill Rocknail Flayers in order to get eight carcasses to feed to the Netherwing Drake’s flying above the Fields.

After turning that in Mordenai gives you the quest Seek Out Neltharaku. Neltharaku, Netherwing Dragon, flys high about the Netherwing Fields so obviously you have to have a flying mount in order to reach him. He also patrols over the area so you may have to fly around a little bit to find him.

QUICK TIP: When trying to click on Neltharaku to talk to him it really is extremely difficult to click on him just right to talk to him. The best way I have found is to turn on “Click-To-Move” in the Interface options, click on him, and then you will be able to talk to him. Of course remember to turn this off after talking to him.

Next quest is called Neltharaku’s Tale. Pretty simple quest just listen to Neltharaku tell you a story.

Infiltrating Dragonmaw Fortress is the next quest Neltharaku will give you. Just head over to the Dragonmaw Fortress which is east of the Netherwing Fields and kill 15 Dragonmaw Orcs. The easier way to do this quest is to head over to the Netherwing Ledge and kill the Dragonmaw Peons. They are easier to kill and you can easily take down 3 or 4 at a time.

Next Neltharaku will send you To Netherwing Ledge! in order to collect 12 Nethervine Crystals.

After completing that he will send you to do The Force of Neltharaku. You must rescue 5 Enslaved Netherwing Drakes using the enchanted Nethervine Crystal you receive at the start of the quest. The Drakes can be found all over the Dragonmaw Fortress.

Almost there…well to Neutral anyway! Karynaku is the next quest you have to do. It says Group quest but this part doesn’t need a group as all you have to do is speak with Karynaku at (69,61) which is inside the Dragonmaw Fortress.

She will then direct you to Zuluhed the Whacked. This is a Group quest that will need a 5 man group for or a good 4 man group. He has a Rain of Fire spell that can do some pretty good damage to the group so avoid this at all costs. You can also move Zuluhed to the other room in order to avoid the Demon that spawns out of the portal.

Turning this in will give you the quest Ally of the Netherwing which all you do is return back to Mordenai to get your rewards for this part of the chain. 42,000 reputation is the reward which will take you to Neutral with the Netherwing faction.

Netherwing Reputation Guide Part 2: Neutral To Friendly With Netherwing

The 2nd part of this guide is now ready and it will go over the Netherwing rep guide from Neutral to Friendly. This guide was broken up in order to keep the browsing and reading of it fairly easy. Now on to the good part.

One of the new features that Blizzard has implemented in the 2.1 patch is the ability to do daily quests. What this means is you can only do 1 of these quests a day and only able to do a total of 10 different daily quests a day. I’m still not sure how I feel about those just yet but it really is something different that may or may not be very cool. It will make it take longer for the long reputation grind for Netherwing as you can really only get 2,500 rep a day.

One other key point to make before trying to grind out Netherwing reputation is once you hit Neutral you have to have the flying mount training at 300 before you can go any further. Yes, as disappointing as it sounds you will have to come up with the 5000g to purchase the training. That alone can take a while to grind out.

Once we have that we are ready to go. Oh and a quick note….all the daily quests will have the text (DAILY) behind it. Any quest that doesn’t say that is considered to be part of the quest line.

Neutral to Friendly with Netherwing

Mordenai gives you the quest In Service of the Illidari in which he turns you into a fel orc when you get near the Dragonmaw Base Camp or Netherwing Ledge and turns your mount into a Netherdrake (Pretty cool, eh?). You are looking to deliver a letter (Illidari Service Papers) to Overlord Mor’ghor (coords 66,85) which is on the Netherwing Ledge.

Overlord Mor’ghor next gives you Enter the Taskmaster. All you have to do for this quest is to head over and speak with Taskmaster Varkule Dragonbreath (coords 66,86) (just watch out for the dragon breath….lol), who will give you the first of the daily quests.

This quest depends on your current gathering skill. You will receive Nethercite Ore (DAILY) if you are a miner, Netherdust Pollen (DAILY) if you are an herbalist, or Nethermine Flayer Hide (DAILY) if you are a skinner.

The other daily quest Mr. Dragonbreath gives you is Netherwing Crystals (DAILY). You just have to collect 40 Netherwing Crystals for this quest.

The next person you will want to speak with in order to get some more daily quests is Yarzill the Merc (coords 66,86) which is right around the same area as the other NPCs. He will give you 3 quests 2 of which are daily quests and the other is not.

The first one he gives you is called A Slow Death (DAILY). For this quest you will have to gather Fel Glands to use with Yarzill’s Mutton. The Fel Glands drop off of felboars, vilewing chimaera, felfire diemetradon and possibly more mobs. These mobs can be found at and around (33,43). The peons you try to poison are sometimes bugged so it might be good to get more than 12 Fel Glands in order to poison the 12 Dragonmaw Peon Camps which are around (66,86).

The next quest is The Not-So-Friendly Skies… (DAILY). For this quest Yarzill wants you to gather 10 Netherwing Relics.

The Great Netherwing Egg Hunt is the last quest Yarzill will offer you. The good part about this quest is it isn’t a daily quest but the bad part is the Netherwing Eggs have a pretty low drop rate. Repeating this quest over and over would take a long time to do.

Netherwing Reputation Guide Part 3: Friendly To Honored With Netherwing

Part 3 of our question turned into guide about gaining Netherwing reputation. Who knew a simple “How do I gain reputation with the Netherwing faction?” question would really have such a large answer. We have already went from Hated to Friendly and although there is a lot of work to it the rewards will pay off big time….our very own Nether Drake!

Alright! We are pretty much halfway there in our journey from Hated to Exalted with Netherwing. We have learned about daily quests and probably should be doing those everyday to get the maximum number of reputation points. Today we are going to manage going from Friendly to Honored.

Friendly to Honored with Netherwing

What’s so good about being at the Friendly level? You get a cool combat pet that will help out a whole lot during the rest of the journey to Exalted. Bad part is you can only use this pet in Shadowmoon Valley but still extremely useful.

The first quest we will get from Taskmaster Varkule Dragonbreath back on the Netherwing Ledge. He will give you Rise, Overseer! which directs you to speak with Overlord Mor’ghor.

The next quest from Overlord Mor’ghor is called The Netherwing Mines where you seek out the Mistress of the Mines (coords 63,87)on the Netherwing Ledge. She is pretty much at the bottom west part of the Netherwing Ledge.

She will then give you Picking up the Pieces… (DAILY) where you have to recover 15 Nethermine Cargo crates which are scattered all over the mine.

The next NPC you will want to meet is Dragonmaw Foreman. He is next to the Mistress and will also give you a daily quest called Dragons are the Least of Our Problems (DAILY) which you have to kill 15 Nethermine Flayers and 5 Nethermine Ravagers. The mobs can be found all over the mine and this quest is great to do with the Picking Up The Pieces… quest.

There is also a Murkblood quest line which grants Netherwing reputation. The first quest is called Ronag the Slave Drive where you have to kill Crazed Murkblood Miners. After completing that quest you will receive The Great Murkblood Revolt which basically leads you back to the Mistress of the Mine. The last quest is this chain is called Seeker of Truth where you just have to kill a Murkblood Overseer (coords 72,82) which can be found on the northern side of the Netherwing Ledge. Return back to the Mistress after completing this quest.

The next person you want to see is Chief Overseer Mudlump. He will give you the quest Overseeing and You: Making the Right Choices where you bring him 10 pieces of Knothide Leather and 1 Hardened Hide of Tyrantus. Of course the Knothide Leather can easily be purchased off the auction house if you don’t have skinning and you can find the Tyrantus mob at (43,10) in Netherstorm. He is located almost at the farthest point North in Netherstorm that you can get. Just hit Stormspire and go directly north and he will be in an eco-sphere thing just roaming around.

You will then be granted your next daily quest called The Booterang: A Cure For the Common Worthless Peon. This quest is funny since you get a Booterang which is what you get when you cross a boot with a boomerang. You just simply hit peons in the head with it and they get back to work. Very amusing.  The peons can be found all over the Netherwing Ledge.

Netherwing Reputation Guide Part 4: Honored To Exalted With Netherwing

Finally, the final installment of this Netherwing rep grinding guide. Hopefully, this has helped a lot of you and will continue to help out players for a long time to come. Anyway, time to get busy….

Great part about hitting Honored is you will be able to upgrade your combat pet trinket so it will be usable in all the zones, not just Shadowmoon Valley! I guess the other great part is being closer to hitting exalted with the Netherwing faction.

Honored to Revered with Netherwing

Speaking with Taskmaster Varkule will give you the quest Stand Tall, Captain! which all you have to do is go speak with Overlord Mor’ghor and he will give you Captain’s Badge which is the actual trinket used to call forth your combat pet.

Overlord Mor’ghor will give you Disrupting the Twilight Portal (DAILY)which you have to kill 20 Deathshadow Agents and then return back to Mor’ghor.

Illidari Lord Balthas is the next quest giver you want to visit. He is also located on the Netherwing Ledge around the rest of the quest givers that we have discussed in earlier parts. He will give you The Soul Cannon of Reth hedron. For this you will need to pick up 2 Felsteel Bars, 1 Adamantite Frame, 1 Khorium Power Core, and 1 Flawless Arcane Essence. The mats are pretty easy to get with the Flawless Arcane Essence being the harder to get one. In order to get this just visit Sar’this (coords 44,42) in Terokkar Forest inside a hut north of the Bone Wastes in the mountains. He will give you a quest for you to kill elementals and will give you the Flawless Arcane Essence.

Subdue the Subduer is the next part of this short quest line. You have to use the Soul Cannon on Reth’hedron the Subduer in Nagrand. It is located at (10,40) which is in the middle of Twilight Ridge west of Forge Camp: Hate.

Now you get to have some fun with the flying mount racing quests! There is a total of 7 racing quests for you to do and don’t forget that they give 500 rep a piece and the last one gives 1000 reputation. The first one is called Earning Your Wings  and the rest of them are just Dragonmaw Races against 6 different competitors. Seems like a really fun way to get some rep and a cool 10% faster mount speed trinket (Skybreaker Whip) at the end!

Revered to Exalted with Netherwing

Once you hit Revered with Netherwing you will want to see Taskmaster Varkule again because he will give you another upgrade to your combat pet trinket in the quest Hail, Commander!

Turn in Hail, Commander! to Overlord Mor’ghor and you will get the quest Kill Them All! For this quest all you have to do is deliver news of your mission along with the Dragonmaw Flare Gun to Arcanist Thelis at the Sanctum of the Stars in Shadowmoon Valley if you are Scryer and to Anchorite Ceyla at the Altar of Sha’tar if you are Aldor.

This opens up the last daily quest The Deadliest Trap Ever Laid (DAILY) where you will have to defend either the Scryer or Aldor base (depending on which you have chosen) from Dragonmaw Skybreakers. It can be soloable if you are a healer but it never hurts to have some friends along for the ride.

That is it! All the quests available in order to get from Hated to Exalted with Netherwing. The key thing to remember is to do the daily quests once a day if you want to get your Netherwing Drake ASAP! It will take a lot of time to do this and since you can only do 10 daily quests a day it helps to pick and choose the ones which reward the most reputation.
