So, you've mastered the jargon. You're talking about how the tank botched those pulls, and how those damn PKers camped your respawn point for hours. But even understanding the lingo isn't much help when half the chat you see in the various channels in the world is composed of mysterious capital letters! Worry not, dear friend-for all shall be made clear.

Places and Dungeons:
AB - Arathi Basin, a 15v15 battleground in the Arathi Highlands. Also used to refer to the Defilers and the League of Arathor when talking about one's reputation or faction standing, e.g "I'm halfway through honored with AB."
AV - Alterac Valley, a 40v40 battleground in the Alterac Mountains available for levels 51-60 only. Also used to refer to the Frostwolf Orcs and Stormpike dwarves when talking about one's reputation or faction standing.
WSG - Warsong Gulch, a 10v10 battleground in the Barrens/Ashenvale. Also used to refer to the Silvermoon Sentinels and the Warsong Outriders when talking about one's reputation or faction standing.
RFC - Ragefire Chasm, a level 13-16 dungeon in Orgrimmar.
WC - Wailing Caverns, a level 18-22 dungeon in the Barrens.
VC - The Deadmines, a level 17-21 dungeon in Westfall. So named for the final boss, Edwin VanCleef.
Stocks - Stockades, a level 26-30 dungeon in Stormwind.
SFK - Shadowfang Keep, a level 22-27 dungeon in Silverpine Forest.
RFK - Razorfen Kraul, a level 28-32 dungeon in the Barrens.
BFD - Blackfathom Deeps, a level 24-30 dungeon in Ashenvale.
Gnomer - Gnomeregan, a level 29-35 dungeon in Dun Morogh.
SM - Scarlet Monastery, a series of dungeons in Tirisfal Glades.
SM Cath - The Cathedral of the Monastery, for levels 39-42.
SM Lib - The Library of the Monastery, for levels 35-38.
SM Arm - The Armory of the Monastery, for levels 37-40.
SM GY - The Graveyard of the Monastery, for levels 30-35.
Uld - Uldaman, a level 42-46 dungeon in the Badlands.
RFD - Razorfen Downs, a level 39-43 dungeon in the Barrens.
ZFK - Zul'Farrak, a level 44-48 dungeon in Tanaris.
Mara - Maraudon, a level 48-52 dungeon in Desolace.
Temple/ST - Sunken Temple of Atal'Hakkar, a level 51-55 dungeon in the Swamp of Sorrows
BRD - Blackrock Depths, a level 56-60 dungeon in Blackrock Mountain.
BRS - Blackrock Spire, a level 58-60 dungeon in Blackrock Mountain.
LBRS - Lower Blackrock Spire, for levels 58-60, taking a right turn in the opening hall of BRS.
UBRS - Upper Blackrock Spires, for levels 59-60, taking a left turn in the opening hall of BRS (requires the Seal of Acesnsion).
Scholo - Scholomance, a level 58-60 dungeon in Western Plaguelands
Strat - Stratholme, a level 58-60 dungeon in Eastern Plaguelands.
UD Strat - The Scourge/Undead-controlled side of Stratholme, controlled by Baron Rivendare. Also known as "Strat Baron."
Live/Scarlet Strat - The side of Stratholme held by the Scarlet Crusade.
DM - Dire Maul, a level 56-60 dungeon in Feralas. Also occasionally used to refer to the level 17-21 dungeon Deadmines, so be aware of context. A level 19 warrior looking for a DM group is likely not going to Dire Maul.
DM North/Tribute - The Ogre side of Dire Maul, a special run where the aim is to leave the bosses alive and become the Ogre King.
DM West/Prince - The Elemental/Undead side of Dire Maul, named for the final boss, Prince Tortheldrin.
DM East/Plant - The Plant/Demon side of Dire Maul. The only wing one does not need a key to enter, considered the easiest wing.
MC - Molten Core, a level 60 raid instance for 40 people, located in Blackrock Mountain with an alternate entrance in the Blackrock Depths dungeon.
BWL - Blackwing Lair, a level 60 raid instance for 40 people, located in Blackrock Mountain with an alternate entrance in the Upper Blackrock Spire dungeon.
ZG - Zul'Gurub, a level 60 raid instance for 20 people, located in Stranglethorn Vale.
AQ20/RAQ - Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, a level 60 raid instance for 20 people, located in Silithus.
AQ40/TAQ - Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, a level 60 raid instance for 40 people, located in Silithus.
IF - Ironforge, the Dwarven/Gnomish capital in Dun Morogh.
SW - Stormwind, the Human capital in Elwynn Forest.
Darn - Darnassus, the Night Elven capital in Teldrassil.
Org - Orgrimmar, the Troll/Orcish capital in Durotar.

Goblins/Steamwheedle Cartel - The four Goblin cities: Booty Bay, Ratchet, Gadgetzan, and Everlook.
AD - The Argent Dawn, an organization dedicated to fighting the Scourge. AD reputation is important in Naxxramas.
BoN/Brood - Brood of Nozdormu, the Bronze Dragonflight. BoN reputation is important in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj.
CC - Cenarion Circle, the group of druids. CC reputation is important in the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj as well as the Silithus Field Duty quests.
Zandalar - The Zandalar Tribe of Trolls who have come to fight the evil of Hakkar. Zandalar reputation is important in Zul'Gurub.
The Faire / DMF - Darkmoon Faire, a wandering group of entertainers that set up shop for the first week of every month, alternating between Mulgore and Elwynn Forest. Though high reputation with the Faire is not needed for anything, there are several nice rewards.
Waterlords - The Hydraxian Waterlords, a faction of water elementals opposed to Ragnaros and the Firelords. Waterlord reputation is important (to a point) for Molten Core.
TB - Thorium Brotherhood, a group of Dark Iron Dwarves devoted to crafting. High reputation with them unlocks several important recipes for crafters, including valuable Fire Resistance gear for Molten Core and Blackwing Lair.
Timbermaw / TH - Timbermaw Hold, a faction of friendly furbolgs with some useful crafting recipes at higher levels of reputation.
