This is a list of 18 major gold farming spots in Classic WoW. The reason for listing is that it tends to be higher-level zones, just because farming gold with low-level character is not very smart at all. It's much faster to upgrade a character and then start farming gold for everything you want to buy.
Farming Spots | Level & Location | NPCs | Gold Farming Guide |
---|---|---|---|
Westfall | Level: 9 - 18 Territory: Alliance Instance: The Deadmines Continent: Eastern Kingdoms |
Defias Trapper(31,33) | In the Western shore of Westfall there is a small outpost that’s surrounded by level 12-13 Defias Trappers. This is a great farming spot for low level and even high level players because these Trappers respawn super fast. These Trappers have a 35% drop rate for Linen Cloth so higher level can fill their backbag with Linen Cloth very quickly while lower level players can use this spot to grind for experience. |
Stranglethorn Vale | Level: 30 - 50 Territory: Contested Instance: Zul'Gurub (Phase 4) Factions: Booty Bay Bloodsail Buccaneers Zandalar Tribe (Phase 4) Continent: Eastern Kingdoms |
Crystalvein Mine (44,45) | Crystalvein Mine is a cave to the East from Gurubashi Arena. Inside the cave you’ll find a lot of Ironjaw Basiliks which are level 43-44 mobs. You’ll be able to earn nice gold by selling all the vendor trash items these guys drop and grinding the corpses for Thick Leather and Heavy Leather. |
Azshara | Level: 42 - 55 Territory: Contested World Boss: Azuregos (Phase 2) Faction: Hydraxian Waterlords Continent: Kalimdor |
Highborne Apparition (16,70) Highborne Lichling (16,70) |
Shadowsong Shire is on the left side of the road when you enter Azshara from Ashenvale. You’ll find some level 44-47 Highborne ghosts in there. They’re weak caster units so you’ll be able to farm them with ease for tons of mageweave, green drops and random chests. |
Tanaris | Level: 40 - 50 Territory: Contested Faction: Gadgetzan Instances: Zul'Farrak Continent: Kalimdor |
Southsea Pirates (72,44) | There is a Southsea pirate town in eastern Tanaris. The place is called Lost Rigger Cove and you can get there by going throught a tunnel. The place is full of level 43-45 pirates who should be very easy to farm on high levels. These guys drop some nice silver, Mageweave and Silk Cloth and also have a good drop rates for blue/purple items for such a low level mob which makes grinding them worthwhile. |
Un'Goro Crater | Level: 48 - 55 Territory: Contested Continent: Kalimdor |
Devilsaur | Overall Un’Goro Crater is a great zone for skinners as there are so many kinds of skinnable mobs. It’s even better if you can kill Devilsaurs (level 52-55 elites) which can be skinned for Devilsaur Leather (Can sell for 50 gold per stack). Devilsaurs patrol 6 different paths around Un’Goro and respawn relatively quickly which means that you can basically do circles around the crater killing Devilsaurs non-stop. Soloing Devilsaurs and Ironhide Devilsaurs shouldn’t be too hard on level 60. I’d recommend avoiding Tyrant Devilsaurs though because they have a nasty Fear ability. |
Winterspring | Level: 55 - 60 Territory: Contested Continent: Kalimdor Factions: Everlook Wintersaber Trainers |
Ice Thistle Yetis (67,40) | These guys are great for skinners. Not only do they drop nice vendor trash items, green items and sometimes blue/epics buy you can also skin them for Rugged Leather and Thick Leather which makes farming them greatly worthwhile. You’ll find tons of Ice Thistle Yetis from a large area North and East from Everlook. |
Winterspring | Level: 55 - 60 Territory: Contested Continent: Kalimdor Factions: Everlook Wintersaber Trainers |
Lake of Kel’Theril (53,42) | There are tons of level 54-55 ghosts around this lake. (Suffering/Anguished Highborne, etc.) These ghosts are pretty weak, drop 2-8 silver, a lot of green items and even have a tiny change of dropping epics. Random chests also spawn on this area. The lake is often heavily farmed but other than that it’s a great farming spot. Also, a weekly water elemental invasion also takes place around the lake. It goes on until the boss, Princess Tempestria is slain. The elementals have a good drop rate for Essence of Water and the boss drops good very valuable blue items like Ace of Elementals. You’ve better group up for the boss though, soloing her isn’t impossible but still pretty hard to do. |
Winterspring | Level: 55 - 60 Territory: Contested Continent: Kalimdor Factions: Everlook Wintersaber Trainers |
Cobalt Dragons (57,50) | South East from the Lake of Kel’Theril there is a cave and around that cave there are a lot of Cobalt Dragons which are level 56-58 elites. The Cobalt Mageweavers/Scalebanes/Cobalt Wyrmkins on this area have a tiny change (Something like 1/1000) of dropping a a [Mature Blue Dragon Sinew]. Getting this item is hard work but you’ll be greatly rewarded if you succeed because Hunters need this items for a quest to get the epic quiver [Ancient Sinew Wrapped Lamina] and that’s why it can sell for hundreds of gold. As a bonus Cobalt Mageweavers also have a pretty high 1.7% drop rate for [Recipe: Greater Arcane Protection Potion]. Guilds need this potion for AQ so you’ll be able to sell it for a pretty nice amount of gold if you can find the right buyer. Of course most elites also drop a lot of valuable green and blue items and Cobalt Dragons are no exception. |
Winterspring | Level: 55 - 60 Territory: Contested Continent: Kalimdor Factions: Everlook Wintersaber Trainers |
Frostmaul Giants | Frostmaul Giants are down in the Frostwhisper Gorge which is in South from Everlook. These guys are level 59-60 elites so they are pretty tough but they have a 2% drop rate for [Recipe: Greater Frost Protection Potion] which makes them worth farming for. The recipe can very well sell for something like 50 gold. As said already, these guys aren’t easy so it won’t hurt to be a Hunter or a Warlock when soloing them. |
Winterspring | Level: 55 - 60 Territory: Contested Continent: Kalimdor Factions: Everlook Wintersaber Trainers |
Darkwhisper Gorge (60,75) | Darkwhisper Gorge is South from Everlook, all the way to bottom of the map of Winterspring. The demons (Hederine Slayer/Intiate) there are level 60 Elites so you’ve better group up before going there. What makes this place lucrative is that the demons have almost 1% drop rate for Eye of Shadow which is a very high value item (can sell for over 200 gold). You’ll also get tons of Runecloth, Felcloth and green items. |
Felwood | Level: 47 - 54 Territory: Contested Faction: Timbermaw Hold Continent: Kalimdor |
Angerclaw Maulers(37,43) | Angerclaw Mauler bears are all over Felwood but there is a particularly good grinding spot for them at (37,43) which is North and a bit East from Bloodvenom Post (Horde camp). There are about 15 Angerclaw Maulers near that spot which can be killed relatively quickly for a lot of gray vendor trash drops. The trick is that when you combine those with the Thick Leather and Rugged Leather that can be skinned off these guys, you’ll earn gold surprisingly fast. |
Felwood | Level: 47 - 54 Territory: Contested Faction: Timbermaw Hold Continent: Kalimdor |
Jadefire Run(41,19) | Jadefire Run in Northern Felwood is a great place to farm tons of Runecloth and some Felcloth which is very valuable. The mobs on that area are level 52-53 Satyrs (Jadefire Betrayer/Trickster/etc) which are pretty easy to kill. This is a great farming spot as long as there isn’t too much competition. |
Western Plaguelands | Level: 46 - 57 Territory: Contested Instance: Scholomance Continent: Eastern Kingdoms |
Felstone field (36,57) | Felstone field is first of the fields when you come from Bulwark. The great thing about this place is that there are tons of weak undead mobs who drop a lot of Runecloth. The respawn rate is also high so you won’t have any downtime unless there are other farmers competing with you. |
Western Plaguelands | Level: 46 - 57 Territory: Contested Instance: Scholomance Continent: Eastern Kingdoms |
Hearthglen(45,16) | Hearhglen is the Scarlet city in Northern Western Plaguelands. There are relatively easy to kill level 53-56 Elites (Scarlet Priest/Sentinel/Paladin/etc) all over Hearthglen. These guys have a high drop rate for Runecloth but what really makes them worth farming are the misc green/blue/epic items they sometimes drop. There is also a tower (55,25) which you’ll pass on your way to Hearthglen. The tower is usually heavily farmed for [Formula: Enchant Weapon - Crusader] because Scarlet Spellbinder is the only unit in the game to drop that formula and there are 7 of those in the tower. This formula is very valuable and can sell for 200+ gold. I’d recommend anyone who ever gets a change to farm these guys without competition to do so. |
Western Plaguelands | Level: 46 - 57 Territory: Contested Instance: Scholomance Continent: Eastern Kingdoms |
Decaying Horrors and Rotting Behemoths | You’ll find Decaying Horrors and Rotting Behemoths near and inside The Weeping Cave in Eastern part of WPL. These are just regular level 55-57 mobs with a high drop rate for [Recipe: Greater Nature Protection Potion]. You get one recipe for about ever 100 kills and it can sell for as much as 100 gold so this looks like a pretty good deal to me. |
Eastern Plaguelands | Level: 54 - 59 Territory: Contested Instances: Stratholme Naxxramas (Phase 6) Faction: Argent Dawn Continent: Eastern Kingdoms |
Mossflayer Zombies(28,85) | Mossflayer Zombies reside in The Undercroft which is in the Southwestern corner of EPL. These guys drop are nothing too special except for being weak, respawning quickly and dropping a lot of silver and Runecloth. This is a good place to farm if there is too much competition over the other farming spots. |
Eastern Plaguelands | Level: 54 - 59 Territory: Contested Instances: Stratholme Naxxramas (Phase 6) Faction: Argent Dawn Continent: Eastern Kingdoms |
Plaguebats | You’ll have no problem finding Plaguebats. They’re all over the Southern part of EPL. Farming these guys is worth it especially during the Darkmoon Faire because Plaguebats have a high drop rate for Evil Bat Eyes which are required for a Darkmoon Faire quest. On some cases Evil Bat Eyes can sell for as much as 2 gold a piece. Of course you’ll also make a lot of gold selling all the vendor trash items and skinning the corpses of these guys. |
Eastern Plaguelands | Level: 54 - 59 Territory: Contested Instances: Stratholme Naxxramas (Phase 6) Faction: Argent Dawn Continent: Eastern Kingdoms |
Larval Acids | Carrion Grubs and Carrion Devourers are also the kind of mobs you’ll see all over the place in EPL. These guys have a high drop rate for Larval Acid which can sell for as much as 7 gold so killing all the Carrion mobs you encounter might not be a bad idea. |
The Auction House (AH) is a brilliant way of making money if you know the tricks on how to do it. The basic strategy with the AH is to buy things cheap, re-list them on the AH, and then sell them for a profit. Even better, of course, is to get good items from drops and then sell them on the Auction House for pure profit. Many players generate most or all of their cashflow simply by speculating on the AH. So a good understanding of the it, as well as some time to invest, is essential to turning it into a money-making proposition for you. It is also highly recommended that you get the Auctioneer addon for quick listing auctions, and knowing the average price of items.
On the Action House, there are several distinct ways to earn gold. Each of them requires a different play style and level of understanding. It is important to choose those which match your strengths and preferences in order to excel.
Farming is the simplest and most guaranteed way to make gold. It comprises using gathering professions (Mining, Herbalism, Skinning, Fishing) to gather trade goods and then sell them on AH. Usually you will not earn tons of gold/hour doing this, but there are very few risks involved and level of knowledge required to start is minimal.
Crafting means using your production professions (Jewelcrafting, Inscription, Alchemy, etc.) to craft items and sell them on AH. Requires having chosen professions leveled up and stocked with valuable recipes as well as understanding which products sell well. Crafting has a lot of potential, but involves investment and risk.
The most advanced way of making gold. It includes any form of buying and then reselling goods. Has the greatest potential for earning a lot of gold/hour, but requires very deep understanding of WoW market in general and your realm's market specifically.
This is very true for making gold on AH. The more complex line of business you choose (crafting or trading) the more important it becomes. While you can learn on your own from mistakes, much better approach is to use and consult plethora of free online resources and guides available. Learn common and well-known practices first and then use your creativity and cunning to improve upon those. Spending a few hours reading online about how to make gold on AH can boost your income several times. (e.g. place to start: 'The Consortium' gold making forums)
The auction house is the main way to make gold. No it does not provide gold quickly but it does provides a steady stream of gold every day. The auction house is very helpful if you want to save up for something, want to hit the gold cap, or simply have something incredibly valuable in your bags and want to sell it for as much as possible.
Sometimes you can make money by crafting items with ingredients supplied by other players who give you a tip to make the item. This is not necessarily a reliable source at low levels, but it can be a good supplemental income source at higher levels, particularly if you have good recipes. And if you can charge for the customer using your materials (as opposed to materials supplied by him/her), you can mark those up.
World Quests are the second easiest way to make gold. In Legion they still net a fair amount. They're fairly straightforward, just view the rewards that appeal to you and go complete it. Easy as pie. And if you have the time, extremely profitable. Just make sure to complete the Emissary quests for your rep. Even if you're maxed you can still get treasures. Obviously with BFA releasing this is pretty low priority but if you don't have it or are simply bored this is a good thing to do. Aim for the one's with the highest gold reward and I personally enjoy the puzzles as those are fairly simple and the Warden's bounty WQ are easy as well. They don't reward quite as much as they did in Legion, but if you want to it's not a bad way to get gold if you want to get the rep at the same time you can knock out two birds with one stone.
Professions have always been the best way to make gold. However it is a slightly more difficult part of gold making to execute with Legion's changes to professions. We have yet to see how Battle For Azeroth will affect this specific area of gold making. For example, in Legion herbs were very hard to get and VERY expensive as well as flasks, potions, and pretty much everything. This is a cooking vendor recipe for farming more gold in wow classic.
Just remember, in every main profession there is profit so try not to go bouncing around from profession to profession. Select your professions and don't get discouraged if they seem to be highly nerfed or extremely boring. Professions change every expansion, and frequently changes or made mid-expansion so don't fret, there's some gold everywhere.
Perhaps the best and most secure way to make money within the game is to apply some basic business practice to your Professions. While some of these tips are common sense and common knowledge, it can't hurt to be reminded of basic principles of trade.
As previously stated, people will only buy your wares if they want it. Do not waste time gathering or producing items that people do not need. Focus on items that will most likely be wanted and bought.
When WoD introduced the WoW tokens it had become one of the main ways to make gold however not so much in Legion. WoW tokens can be purchased from the in-game store for $20 US. After receiving your WoW token you can go to the nearest AH and post it for the going price. I would suggest doing so when the prices are higher so as to get higher profit from selling them.
Instances are the way to go if you want to be 100% sure if how much gold you're getting and the time spent on it. With other areas of gold making there is always a risk that you won't sell your item and it'll just sit around in your bags or bank. Instances are fairly easy to run and they can be soloed up to WoD. Vanilla, BC, LK, Cata, and MoP raids/dungeons are all soloable. WoD is mostly doable, or so I've heard. Speaking as a Mage, soloing things is much harder. Especially because I play Fire. Legion depends on the class. Hunter/Pally/DK/Warlock+Blueberry can all probably solo them.
One of the best ways to get good equipment: Using the Looking for Group interface, or joining a good guild, and doing instances that are around your level. You'll learn valuable grouping skills, and the level of loot in an instance is typically much better than what you could find on your own. If possible, concentrate on instances with humanoid mobs, since selling the cloth that they drop is a good way to make money.
For level 80 characters, almost any old-world instance can be completed solo even in mediocre gear, and Outland dungeons and Heroics and be completed with better gear and a fair amount of practice. At level 85, Outland Heroics and old-world raids are trivial with a little practice, while Karazhan and Wrath Heroics are within reach. If you can Solo an instance, you have two options. The first is to take the place apart yourself and sell all the drops on the Auction House. The second way to make money by soloing dungeons is to offer to run people through the instance for a price. Even with Dungeon Finder in place, some people get desperate to run a certain instance. Whether they need it for rep, a quest, or specific loot, they're willing to pay a pretty penny for it. You can turn that desperation into a tidy profit.
8. Buy WoW Classic Gold from a seller
As farming classic takes a lot of time, you can purchase gold directly from the following sellers:
A quest is a task given to a player character that yields a reward when completed. Until you reach the maximum level, a quest will also reward you with Experience Points (XP). After that, you will receive gold instead. Most quests will also reward you with reputation from the same faction as the NPC quest giver.
Repetitive daily quests are a legitimate method of generating significant cashflow. Though farming, crafting, and playing the Auction House each have better cash-per-hour potential at the level cap, dailies are still a staple of the working-class player's income. By planning out an efficient route, a player can complete his/her allotment of 25 daily quests within two hours, generating 100-500g per hour depending on level, professions, and farming activity. Many players have funded the purchase of their elite flying mounts solely through doing daily quests. The Burning Crusade expansion introduced daily quests, so a player's first large-scale exposure to daily quests will come at level 70. However, cooking and fishing dailies are available at level 5 in each capital city.
Another trick for higher level players is to do level 70 dailies during the Northrend level grind, and Northrend dailies during the Cataclysm levels. The quests are much easier at higher levels, but still award gold and EXP. If you have a hankering to get a Netherdrake, for instance, and you already have a fast flying mount (which is a pre-requisite for the drake), you will find your mid-70s an ideal time to go get that drake. Not only will the quests be a lot easier to do at level 75+, but the dailies will pay about 1200g as you level rep, and you'll get EXP along the way to boot (though usually less EXP per hour than you'd get for questing in Northrend.) Similarly, Northrend dailies award around 7g and 22,000 EXP each (13g 23s at the level cap), and are very easy to complete at level 83 in full Cataclysm gear. So if you're looking for a break from the grind of leveling, and want to kick back, spank some level 69 mobs and make some decent money along the way, doing lower level dailies can be a fun way to make some extra cash.
Trade chat is a good way to make gold. Especially if you're bored. The reason it's so big is because you can bargain. With the auction house the price listed is the price you get. In Trade Chat you bargain, trade, lower, and raise the price talking to the person. Honestly, I enjoy trade chat, though on smaller servers it doesn't work well.
An alt (secondary character) in a capital city is an effective way to not only cheaply increase your available bank space, but to be a simple savings and auctioneer account. This character can serve as your bank, an auctioneer, bag-space creator and a time saver. Get one. (There may or may not be Item Recovery issues with characters below level 10, in cases where one's account is hacked.) You can use these player characters doing Quest and transfer gold to the main character.
Any item with a grey name is considered vendor trash or poor quality. White items have some use such as tradeskills or as spell reagents, so you may want to check to see if they're worth more than the vendor price. Keep your eyes out for regular quality weapons, as even the worst of these tend to sell for several silver, or several gold at high level. Always check the tooltip for the vendor price before discarding anything. Also, white (or even grey) shoulder armor under level 20 sells regularly on the auction house, mainly because there is nothing better available at that level.
In general, if you have bag space, you should always pick up whatever vendor trash you can, particularly weapons, even if they are grey. Don't be too proud. This stuff may not sell for much, but vendor trash can easily pay for your repair bills, and as you level past your 60s that's not an inconsiderable amount of money.
Selling things people want to buy always is a good idea. Farming valuable items and then exchange for gold with other players. You can craft legendary items and sell it for wow gold as well.
A Mission is like a quest, but for a Garrison follower, Order Hall champions, or War Campaign champions. Order Hall or War Campaign missions can also use the aid of troops. The follower gains experience from completing a mission, but the player could also get a reward, depending on the mission. I recommend to do Class Hall mission. Class Halls(or Order Halls) are sites of great power and the bases of operations of the class orders. You can farm a lots of gold here.
Missions, and quests. Just playing normally I had 1.1 million account wide before I purchased the Lightforged Warframe, and now I have over 1.5 million.
If you have old toons who are LW, Tailor, or Blacksmith check their profession books because some of that stuff may be really easy to make, but sells for a nice amount of gold. A lot of people take their profession books for granted... right there hiding in plain sight is a way to make good money. But to sell transmog, you gotta have patience. Is it gonna get you massively rich? Probably not, but it will pay the bills.
Pick flowers and hit rocks, i spend about 90 minutes a day picking flowers and hitting rocks while doing WQ all over the place, between the quests and the flowers and rocks, i hit about 2.5k worth of stuff, also about 50 bloods, and 4 or 5 stacks of AH material. the herbs and ore i put up on friday and sell by saturday morning. most go between 1400 and 1800 per stack, so the maths puts that at 39000 - 63000. but i have saved the best for last the felslate sells for between 3200 and 4800 and by saturday i have 7-10 stacks so another 22400 - 48000, and then there is the blood swap by this time i usally have about 350 and i swap them for about 1000 starlight roses, which sell for between 33000 and 45000. total for the week between 131000 and 212000 gold, monthly average about 600000 gold, or 3 tokens and change. and its all honest!!! no cheating, i could make more by abusing the dreamleaf farm near the raid opening, but thats cheesing the system and often is full of guys already farming it!!
Guilds are perhaps one the most effective ways of progressing your character, and in turn, making money.
Nothing says "loser" like begging. Everyone (and I mean everyone) hates beggars. Don't do it. If you don't care about etiquette, you can make a small amount of money this way, but it isn't as efficient as the regular (and respectable) ways of making money. You can never tell how an unknown player is going to react, but if you do any amount of begging you will probably earn some dislike.
This is a risky way to make money, and not recommended. Tell a player that if he beats you in a duel you will give him 10 gold, but if you beat him he has to give you 5 gold. This can be very effective if you are skilled in PvP and make the bet with a trustworthy person, or friends. It is a very risky strategy, as you may lose gold, or the other player won't cough up the money anyway. You will also get a bad reputation if you don't cough up the money in the case of defeat.
Whatever your approach, if you use some common sense and apply yourself, you can make significant quantities of money in the game. By managing your cashflow, conserving and budgeting where you can, and investing wisely in those activities that make you money, you can become financially solvent relatively early in your career, and remain comfortably well-off (while still buying good gear) at level 60. Good luck!
In fact, the best way to get gold in wow classic is to play in the game. If you want to get currency with real money, this behavior of purchase is against the rule of the Blizzard. In an extreme situation, your account may be banned permanently. However, in most cases, the Blizzard usually bans the account of the seller, not the buyer.
In order to guarantee your wow account safe, you can do the following thing:
WoW token is a mechanism of Blizzard, which allows players to spend real money to buy gold. Money players in the game can make money by killing monsters, completing tasks and selling loot to suppliers.
In 2015, Blizzard began to allow players to buy gold from each other using wow tokens to try to control the process and mitigate losses. "Time is money, friends - but sometimes one person is sadder than another," Blizzard said on its official website. "World of Warcraft players can now use Warcraft tokens to exchange game time or battle.net balances!"
You can buy a token at $20 in the game's cash store, then sell it at an auction house, and another player can buy a token with the amount of gold determined by the token's current market value. After buying the token with gold coins, it can't be sold again, but it can be cashed in the game time.
Classic Warcraft works on a cycle of death and rebirth. Typically, the server dies within a few months of the Naxx release. That said, usually, most players on the server still want to play. They just want to start over in new areas. Many people think the classic will disappear in six months. I got news from those people. Classics are bigger than retail. If you're not hardcore, and before you think you need crazy dedication to raid naxx, it's a better game to play. Just remember that's what HC players think. There is a difference between HC players without the time and HC players without time.
Because of shared subscriptions, classic world of Warcraft is directly related to retail world of Warcraft, so it will never disappear financially. Or at least before the death of the retail world of Warcraft.
In terms of the large population, the 5-6 months after Naxx is a period of a sharp decline in the number of players. When the content is defeated, min maxer will quit soon. There is no more in the classic world of Warcraft. Veterans who play many roles may stay until the end, while the temporary labor union will quit / rejoin.
After naxx, the players will obviously lose, but since this is Blizzard's museum work, they will keep it as it is and let the players return and play the game the way they like. So the reality was until the retail wow died.
