WoW Azureblade Dragonflight Boss

Azureblade – As security for the Vault, Azureblade refused to leave when it was sealed, choosing duty over safety. When the blue dragons failed to return, her bitter resignation drove her to eventual madness. Extending her own life with the magics she was sworn to protect, Azureblade now claims ownership over all the blue dragonflight left behind.

Important Azureblade Trash Tips and Tricks

  1. Environmental Hazard: Runic Traps on the floor which polymorph people who walk on them.
  2. Tanks should be especially aware in this section, as there are a lot of mechanics focused on you from every type of mob.
  3. Players with Inscription should be aware of the books in this area of the dungeon, as well as after Azureblade. They allow you to use the hazardous traps against the trash with an extra action button.

  • Arcane Elemental casts Arcane Bolt, a kick that deals damage only to your tank, and Waking Bane, which will put someone in your group to sleep for 10 seconds. It can be dispelled if it goes off, but the priority kick here is Waking Bane.
  • Heavy Tome from the Unstable Curator does a large amount of tank damage and should be kicked. Otherwise, Forbidden Knowledge causes swirls to spawn randomly around the floor for the duration of the channel. If you stand in one and survive, you will be disoriented for 4 seconds.
  • Icy Bindings is a groupwide root with a DoT component, cast by the Rune Seal Keeper. It should be kicked, but can be dispelled (note: only one of the five, unless playing with a priest). Condensed Frost is a kickable spell that deals damage to your tank, but is not the priority here.
  • Crystal Fury do a frontal cone, Piercing Shards, that is aimed by your tank.
  • Crystal Thrasher will cast Splintering Shards, which puts a circle around a target, causing them to bleed as well as deal damage to anyone inside their circle.

After using the Book of Translocation to get downstairs, new mobs will be added in combination with mobs we saw while upstairs. Note that in addition to the runic traps that polymorph people when triggered, there is also an environmental set of bonuses now, including haste circles and damage reduction for your group. The haste circle looks like the Splintering Shards animation, so be aware of which it is you have before walking on top of your group.

The list of environmental buffs can be found below:

  • Scornful Haste grants nearby party members 15% Haste, but also grants nearby enemies 30% Haste. Be sure to position well to avoid giving the trash any haste.
  • Viscous Toads is less valuable than the Haste buff, stunning mobs every 10 seconds.
  • Sluggish Adoration slows nearby enemies by 25%.
  • Shrinking Form increases your movement speed by 25%, but increases damage taken by 5%.
  • Hardening Scales reduces your movement speed by 25%, but reduces damage taken by 5%.

The remaining trash has the following abilities:

  • Arcane Bash is a frontal from the Arcane Construct that does not stop the Construct from moving, so be aware where they are facing if your tank is kiting.
  • Unstable Power from the Astral Attendant causes dark blue swirls to show up on the floor that will deal heavy damage if you stand in them when they land.
  • Tanks should be aware of the Vault Guard’s Ice Cutter, which deals a large amount of damage and should be mitigated in some way.
  • Scalebane Lieutenant have a frontal in the form of Spellfrost Breath, which deals a large amount of damage. It is aimed at the tank. This mob also uses Ice Cutter, which is identical to the Vault Guard’s.

Azureblade Tips and Strategy


Throughout the fight, you will be worried about add management.

All Roles

  • Summon Draconic Image summons a dragonkin around the room. This will shoot Illusionary Bolts at random group members and must be interrupted. These should be dealt with as they spawn.
  • Ancient Orb shoots an orb from the boss in a straight line to the edge of the room in any direction it chooses. You should dodge this as soon as it starts the channel.
  • Overwhelming Energy causes the boss to the run to the center. It will spawn four Draconic Images which channel on the boss, making it immune to damage. You must kill the four images to continue the boss fight. While this is going on, the boss is also spawning 5 Ancient Orbs at a time in a pentagon pattern and shooting them to the edges of the room. These must be dodged the same as the big ones during the main phase of the fight, and look like the image below:

Tank

  • Arcane Cleave is a frontal cleave. Don’t aim this at the group.

Healer

  • Healers should pay special attention during Overwhelming Energy, as this causes a lot of unavoidable group damage and can quickly get out of control if you fall behind, leading to a wipe.
