Treemouth – Withered by decay, this once proud ancient has been dubbed Treemouth by the gnolls. As the rot settled into its branches, so too did it settle in the poor creature’s mind, leaving a creature bent on nothing more than the need to feed and spread decay.

Important Treemouth Trash Tips and Tricks

There aren’t many new non-boss-enemies heading towards Treemouth. The distance is relatively short if you head to the left of the bridge upon defeating Gutshot (Green arrow on the minimap). Now keep in mind, if you decide to go from the right side through the river (Red arrow on the minimap), there are a few unique non-boss-enemies: Decayed Elder, Decaying Slime. Wilted Oak, Infected Lasher and Brackenhide Shaper to watch out for. But for the purpose of this guide, we will provide you with information for both ways, recommending you to choose the left path instead (Green arrow on the minimap). Here is more about it:

If you choose the left path, the only new enemy that will appear in this area is going to be Stinkbreath. The trash mob has much more health than the average non-boss-enemy in this dungeon, it is a “mini-boss.” He has several abilities to watch out for:

  • Beware of Violent Whirlwind, it will deal physical damage to all enemies within 7 yards and knock them back. Get away from it immediately!
  • Stinkbreath will occasionally cast Stink Breath, if you are caught in the frontal ability, you will become Disoriented for 4 sec, so watch out!

If you choose the right path, here is what you should know about the trash mobs there:

  • Decaying Slime is going to be present in every pack of mobs in that area. They have only one ability to watch out for which triggers upon being defeated – Burst.
  • Brackenhide Shaper will occasionally cast Summon Lashers (non-interruptible), collect the aggro and quickly focus them! Interrupt its Touch of Decay spell once you see it casting.
  • Speaking about Infected Lasher, watch out for their stacking Bleed effect – Bleeding, especially dangerous for your tank.
  • Decayed Elder is the least dangerous mob, having only Summon Lashers as his ability. Focus the Infected Lasher as quickly as you can.
  • Wilted Oak is the last unique trash mob you will meet in this area. He will have a Essence of Decay aura, Stomp ground ability, and Summon Lashers. He is the most dangerous non-boss-enemy here, so engage with caution!

Treemouth Tips and Strategy

Treemouth will periodically regenerate energy. Upon reaching 100, it will cast Grasping Vines, pulling all players towards him for 4 sec. Here is what you should do to defeat him:

All Roles

  • Dodge the Decay Spray frontal ability.
  • Immediately after Decay Spray, the boss will spawn 4 Decaying Slimes that will cast Gushing Ooze, use your interrupts to stop it!
  • Upon defeating Decaying Slime they will cast Burst, dealing damage to players within 5 yards and leaving a pool of decay on the ground lasting for 30 sec. Standing in the pool will damage you due to Withering Away!, so you better watch out!
  • Once Treemouth begins its Grasping Vines it will Consume the nearest player at the end of the cast, dealing damage and creating an absorb shield. Once you break the shield, the player that was consumed will be spat out and the fight will continue. Even if you are under Consume effect, you can still use your abilities!

On Mythic difficulty, Grasping Vines “intermission” works a bit differently. Here is how:

  • All players within 10 yards of Treemouth will get Consume. If none of the players is close enough to be Consume then the boss gets a permanent Enrage – Starving Frenzy. So yes, you have to deliberately use the most durable member of your team to be Consumed.
  • In addition, you can’t let the same person be Consumed twice in a row due to the Partially Digested debuff, alternate players and their defensive cooldowns.

Tank

  • Vine Whip is a smart frontal ability that will follow you until the end of the cast. Be careful how you aim it, you don’t want to endanger the lives of your teammates!

Healer

  • Spot-heal the player that is under a Consume effect!
