Arathi Basin Tactics

Farm/Stables:

The Farm and Stables should be capped first, BUT! Listen here, it only takes one person to cap the flag of these bases, having 3-4 people trying to cap the flag when one is only needed is stupid. I know there is an achievement of flag grabbing but if you know you were beat to the flag, mount up and move on. After the first person has capped the base, remain behind.

Initial Charge:

Generally after the first player begins to cap the flag for the stables/farm the rest of the group heads to all three bases, however I suggest something else.

If you are Horde send people to Mine and Blacksmith, but if using this stratedgy, keep two other people at the Farm even while the capper is capping, or just recently capped. The Alliance typically send the majority to Lumber Mill, a few to Mine and 1-3 to Blacksmith.

If you are Alliance send people to the Mine and the Lumber Mill, as Horde tend to go to the Blacksmith. In most games the Horde is unpredictable and generally sends heavy resistance to LM in one game or extremely weak resistance to LM and then pounds the mine. Sometimes the forces are divided near equally with BS, Mine, and LM. Whatever the case, capture at least one of the bases. If anyone died during the initial charge send them to the Stables.

If a base attempt was insuccesful, have several players retreat back to Farm/Stables.

Lumber Mill/Mine/Blacksmith Charge:

Have two groups of about equal grouping charge into Lumber Mill/Mine if the first base attempt was insuccesful, usually this only applies to one base lost.

If you are Horde, ALWAYS keep 2-3 people on the Blacksmith as the Alliance is always willing to seize it. Generally if things worked the way I described in the initial charge, leave 1-2 at the mine, 2 at the farm and send the rest (excluding the blacksmith number earlier) towards the LM. If the battle is going to take a while and you died in the start, try and take the Stables with yourself and maybe one other person if the resistance there does not look heavy.

Hopefully the Lumber Mill will be captured at the end of this. As soon as the base and its defenders are wasted, withdraw one from the farm to the mine. Leave one at the Lumber Mill and send the attack team to the Stables if you haven't come close to winning already.

If you are Alliance and captured the mine, keep 1-2 people there and 3 at the stables at least at all times. If the Horde has left the Farm undefended assualt it. If you failed to capture the mine, this will seperate the Horde somewhat in descision whether to turn tail and defend or press on to the Stables from the mine. Likely the Blacksmith will begin to send people over to stop the Farm zerg, usually the Horde does not even think about coming to the LM during this. Send all but one high level player to the Farm from LM. Defend from here, capture the Mine if you can.

If the Farm is guarded by more than one person, regroup and send a good attack team to the Blacksmith, and an even better one to the Mine. This doesn't mean send the high level players to the Mine, in fact it would be best if all the low levels and a few mid-high levels attack the mine while the high-levels distract the Horde at Blacksmith. If the people on Farm leave, anyone left on the LM should go down and capture it. If the Alliance succeeds at the Blacksmith, simply defend your bases.

If insuccessful at the Blacksmith (as predicted) the force at the Mine should of been crushed before the attack. With the mine under attack, the Horde will become desperate and attack the Stables, get ready for it because if the Stables is captured, usually everyone who respawns in Trollbane will be pinned unless you manage to escape. Keep people on the Lumber Mill too, as a hunter will try to zerg it. (most likely) Simply hold out on the Stables and you should be fine.

Final Assualt/ Defend your Three Bases:

It only takes 3 bases being held to win a game, but having four bases really speeds things up, and if you have five the game will be over in seconds. I'll give two stratedgies to the Horde and Alliance of what to do next.

Horde Final Assualt: Send everyone but 1-2 people on each base to the Stables, recapture the mine if it was lost during your attack on the LM. If the mine remained under your control, the four bases should be enough to win it, so farm HK's at the Stables. If the mine was lost and you cannot recontrol it, dump all defense (except the Farm, in fact it would be best if you reinforced it) and charge the Stabes, pin the Alliance in Trollbane until victory, if the mine becomes attackative, send 1/2 of the forces at the Stables to kill the mine.

Horde Defend your Three Bases: If by some twist of fate the Lumber Mill failed to be captured earlier, and the Stables also failed to be captured, lock your forces tight, the majority being at the Farm/Blacksmith.
